DOMUS VIVENDI and Mercurius Real Estate: construction begins on the micro-apartment development in Heidelberg’s Bahnstadt

Königstein im Taunus, 21 November 2012

Project partners the DOMUS VIVENDI Group and Mercurius Real Estate AG have started construction on the micro-apartment development in Heidelberg-Bahnstadt. The civil engineering works have almost been completed. The remaining foundation work is due to be completed by the end of the year. Weather permitting, there shouldn’t be anything standing in the way of completing the development on time by the end of next year. The development is situated on the site of the former Heidelberg shunting and goods station, in the immediate vicinity of the main train station. It demonstrates that the project partners are focusing on a central location and high living comfort for their next development. The KfW passive house 40 in line with EnEV 2009 has a total living space of around 4,700 m² and a commercial area of 305 m². The partners are planning 31 parking spaces in addition to the 218 part-furnished apartments. The first enquiries have already been received. Once complete, the development will be sold outright to an institutional investor. “The Bahnstadt Heidelberg is the largest passive house development in Europe and is, therefore, an architectural challenge. By constructing the development in line with the highest KfW standard, we are able to make an ecological, economic and social contribution”, says Thomas Oellig, managing director of DOMUS VIVENDI GmbH & Co. KG.
